Court orders action against SHO

RAWALPINDI, July 18: An additional district and sessions judge (ASJ) here on Friday ordered departmental action against an SHO for not following court directions.

ASJ Abdul Noor Nasir in a letter asked the Punjab IGP to take action against the SHO Chontra as he was neither presenting relevant case record nor producing the witnesses in the murder case registered against Jamil Akhtar on October 3, 2006 despite repeated court orders.

The judge has also intimated the regional police officer (RPO) and city police officer (CPO) and district and sessions judge (DSJ) about the conduct of the police officer as the Supreme Court had directed the ASJ to conclude the trail by August 10, 2008.

According to the details of the case, Zulfiqar Ali in a complaint lodged with the Chontra Police that he along with his father and aunty, sister of his father, was coming back from their fields. When they reached near the house of Jamil Akhtar, he with Javaid Iqbal armed with guns came out and blocked the road.

He alleged that the accused demanded land from his aunty and warned that otherwise they would kill her. On her refusal Zulfiqar said they killed his aunty shooting her in the neck and also shot his father in the abdomen. His aunty died on the spot and father got seriously injured.

Meanwhile ATC-I Judge Chaudhry Habibur Rehman acceding to the submission of Sadiqabad Police remanded three men accused in a kidnap for ransom case to Adiala Jail for 14 days for identification parade. The accused Abdul Nazeer, Mubarik Khan and Adil Hameed were arrested by police for kidnapping four year old Hamza alias Bilal from outside his house on July 8 and demanding Rs 1.5 million as ransom.
